Action Plan
An Action Plan is a plan for making a teaching change that will enhance your students understanding of mathematics.

Describe your teaching situation
Name: Ed Ashworth
School: Brewster School Districtt
Teaching assignment: 9-12 Special Education Teacher
Describe your student population (approximate number, ethnicity, language, etc): 75% Hispanic, 25% Anglo

Describe your teaching change
What teaching change (instruction, assessment, materials) you like to improve?: Instruction- - I would like to use the conceptual teaching methods. Explain how your teaching change will improve your students’ ability to learn mathematics. I believe that conceptual teaching will allow students to better understand how thier math is working and not just merely memorizing information. My trial and error phase, along with colllaboration with colleagues and professors within this grant, may take a period of time. However, once developed it has the possibility to create an engaging learning environment. Also, describe possible ways that technology might assist you in making your teaching change. Technology will provide an avenue for immediate feedback, interactive learning, and an awesome period of explore and discover without a point value being given.
Set Teaching Goals
Identify at least two teaching goals (measurable accomplishment that if met would enable your students to learn mathematics more effectively). 1) Teacher will be able to assign interactive tools such as Fathom, virtual manipulatinves, excel spreadsheets, ie: games, activities, assignments, via the WWW to increase student understanding of how to perform fractions. 2) Part A)Teacher will be able to incorporate conceptual teaching pedagogy (teaching from the whole to the part) into lessons 5 times per month during 1st school semester. Part B) Teacher, at end of 1st school semester will have Part A critqued by mentors for reinforcement (feedback).
Describe Teaching Actions
Describe at least two things you are going to do as a teacher to accomplish your teaching goals. Network with colleagues throughout the discipline. Exchange materials with others, and borrow ideas or methods from colleagues. This can be done via email, blogging, phone text; as long as collaboration is taking place with colleagues. These actions may or may not use technology but if they do not use technology, explain why technology is or is not the best teaching tool for your teaching change.
Assess Teaching Goals
Identify how you are going to assess each of your teaching goals (simple method of collecting information to see if your teach goals was met). Teaching made data sheet to display dates and time goals were facilitated.
Timeline
Outline a general timeline that identifies when you are going to use your actions, collect your assessment data. My timeline will begin during the month of November, thus, providing me time to engoage in the goals for a better understanding of how I will implement or facilitate them to students.
Reflection
Write a reflection on the results of your action plan. What was difficult? What worked well? How did your students react to the changes you made? What was the impact on student learning?
